Blood Washing
Blood Washing addresses honor killing practices in northern Iraq, a project related to my experience of facing the risk of losing my life for honor killing. It is an art installation of lightboxes illuminating the shapes of deformed uteruses. Juxtaposing this womb installation are two video art pieces positioned on the opposite wall to the lightboxes. Both videos depict the artist’s process of creating the uteri images by applying paint to a glass pane with his fingers. Video 1 on the left side of the wall is fast paced with sound, while on the right, video 2 is slow and muted.
